About This Class

Hot (Yoga) Barre is a dynamic fusion of yoga, body sculpting, ballet, modern dance, barre work and non-impact cardio that leaves you long and lean. The routine is inspired by the method developed in London by world-famous modern dancer Lotte Berk and her orthopaedist.

This cardiovascular program of isometric exercises and orthopaedic stretches tones your buttocks, abdominals, thighs and arms, improves posture, shapes a sculpted physique, increases joint flexibility and shortens recovery time for weight lifters, runners and elite athletes.

In a heated room that can reach about 95°F, it also becomes a profound, cohesive muscle-conditioning class - and a reminder that all movement practices share a common core: the mind-body connection.

What to Expect

  • The burn: small, precise isometric holds at the barre that fatigue and tone muscles quickly.
  • The mix: ballet and modern-dance technique, body sculpting and stretching in one flowing class.
  • The heat: the room runs around 95°F / 35°C, adding a cardio response to every hold.
  • No jumping: non-impact cardio keeps it gentle on the joints while still challenging stamina.

Common Questions

Is barre only for dancers?

Not at all. Barre is designed for everyone: you need no dance or ballet experience, and every exercise can be scaled to your level.

How is Yoga Barre different from Pilates?

Barre blends isometric holds, ballet-based positions and stretching, while Pilates focuses on core control and mat work. They complement each other well.

Will it help me get stronger?

Yes - barre targets the glutes, abs, thighs and arms, improves posture, and the heat amplifies every hold.
