About This Class

Yin yoga is a slow, passive style in which seated or reclining floor postures are held for three to ten minutes or longer, targeting the deep connective tissues.

Unlike active yang styles (like Vinyasa or Ashtanga) that work the muscles, Yin stresses the fascia, ligaments, tendons and joint capsules to improve flexibility. Muscles stay relaxed, and gravity and props - blocks, bolsters and blankets - do much of the work.

It is also a mental practice: stillness, deep breathing and observing physical sensations without fidgeting are at its core.

What to Expect

  • Connective tissue: long holds target the fascia, ligaments, tendons and joints rather than the muscles.
  • Passive holds: muscles remain relaxed while blocks and bolsters support you in each shape.
  • Stillness and breath: calm, deep breathing while you observe the sensations.
  • Beginner friendly: no fast flows, minimal physical demand, and every shape adapts with props.

What to Bring

  • Your mat is included.
  • Warm, comfortable clothing - the body cools down when you are still.
  • Arrive 15 minutes early on your first visit; classes are walk-in, no booking needed.

Common Questions

Is Yin yoga just relaxing?

It is deeply relaxing, but it is also a real practice: the long holds release connective tissue and build lasting flexibility.

Who is Yin yoga for?

Everyone - especially beginners, athletes and anyone balancing an active or fast-paced routine.

Do I need to be flexible?

No. Props let you adapt every shape to your body; flexibility is what the practice builds, not what it requires.
