About This Class
Bali Aerial Yoga is a style of aerial yoga rooted in traditional Iyengar principles. A specially designed suspension belt supports your body weight so gravity assists your alignment, decompresses the spine and allows deeper stretches than the floor usually permits.
Aerial yoga is not necessarily harder than regular yoga - it simply presents a different set of challenges. Most beginners find it surprisingly approachable, because the hammock does part of the work for you from day one.
What to Expect
- Spinal decompression: hanging and inverting lengthens the spine, relieving the pressure of sitting and everyday wear.
- Joint relief: the fabric supports your weight, so you can stretch deeply without harsh strain on the wrists, knees or lower back.
- Strength and stability: balancing in the air constantly engages the deep core and stabiliser muscles.
- Flexibility: the hanging support lets you explore deeper bends and splits than you might reach on a mat.
- Mental release: the playful, floating quality of the practice calms the mind and lifts the mood.
Health Notes
- Not suitable: pregnancy; uncontrolled high blood pressure or heart disease; glaucoma or other eye conditions; vertigo or dizziness; spinal or neck injuries (such as herniated discs); recent surgery.
- Temporary restrictions: within 24 hours of Botox treatment, or after a recent concussion.
- Weight: our public classes host up to 15 people, and we advise anyone over 80 kg to arrange a private session for safety.
What to Bring
- Comfortable, close-fitting clothing (nothing too baggy).
- No jewellery that could catch in the fabric.
- Arrive 15 - 20 minutes early on your first visit; classes are walk-in, no booking needed.
Common Questions
I have never done aerial yoga. Will I manage?
Yes - the hammock supports much of your weight, so most beginners find it easier than expected, and instructors guide every entry.
Is aerial safe?
It is safe for most people, but please read the health notes first: it is not suitable during pregnancy, or with uncontrolled high blood pressure, glaucoma, vertigo, recent surgery or spinal injury.
How many people are in a class?
We host up to 15 participants so everyone has space and supervision. If you weigh over 80 kg, please book a private session.
